A billion hearts, a billion souls
A billion minds and a billion hopes
The most valuable resource in the World.
Freedom of religion and equality for all
A colourful spectrum for arts and rituals
Transcending all barriers
Unshakeable faith in God
Unity in diversity
India – the power of a billion.
Progress is but an illusion
Subservient to Political compulsion
The colours of the rainbow are there to touch
But, stuck in the sand of poverty
Life waltzes to the soft tunes of daily reality
Where are the drumbeats of a billion ?
Mountains that knock on the doors of heaven
Rivers that wash the feet of God
Ocean guarding the peninsula of creation
The power of a billion
The pride of a Nation
Blessed yet cursed
Where are we ? Where do we go ?
Tender hearts.... innocent yet brave
Young voice of hope
Drowned in the wells of Political promises
How long will our children
Live in cocoons of impoverished reality
Silenced by the powers that be
What does the future hold ?
The power of a billion.
Drifting into the endless horizons of unrealizable hope.
Agni, Prithvi and space age technology
Computer, Science, medicine et al
A Nation that prides itself in modern self sufficiency
Is it real for a few - and a dream for all ?
Awake young India ..... awake
Ignite your minds and do not forsake
Your future ... which is at stake
Elect your representatives to perform
With fearless communicate to reform
The time has come
For the future of the young
Teach the world that we are blessed
With imagination and innovation
The will and determination
And we shall not rest
Till India proves that in this millennium
She is truly
