New Delhi: With the nation watching, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has started reading out his Budget 2012-13 speech in Lok Sabha. Mukherjee is presenting the Budget amidst a huge challenge of reviving economic growth, which has slowed down over the last six quarters.
This is the seventh time Mukherjee is presenting the Union Budget, the second highest number of times by any finance minister. Mukherjee had presented budgets for three consecutive years in early 1980s.
The Member of Parliament Local Area Development Division is entrusted with the responsibility of implementation of Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS). Under the scheme, each MP has the choice to suggest to the District Collector for, works to the tune of Rs.2 Crores per annum to be taken up in his/her constituency.
